Pelješac Wine Region: The Home of Plavac Mali
Pelješac, a breathtaking peninsula in Dalmatia, is home to some of Croatia’s most distinctive red wines. This region is best known for Plavac Mali, an indigenous grape variety often called the "king of Croatian reds." Fun fact: Plavac Maliis genetically related to the world-famous Zinfandel!
Vineyards here are perched on steep, sun-soaked slopes overlooking the Adriatic Sea. With limestone-rich soils, salty sea breezes, and over 2,500 hours of sunshine per year, Pelješac wines develop a deep, complex character. The region produces both bold, full-bodied reds and elegant, well-balanced expressions.
