Product description
Product descriptionA medium body, dry and refreshing white wine made with Grk variety grown on the island of Korčula, in the Southern Croatian region of Dalmatia.
Grape variety: Grk is the autochthonous grape variety that grows on the island of Korčula, home to some of the oldest vineyards in this part of the world. The name Grk comes from the Croatian word "grk" meaning bitter and so are the Grk wines: dry, refreshing, with a touch of bitterness (think of pleasant bitter almonds), pronounced acidity, and stone fruit aromas. Less than 50 hectares are planted in Croatia), and some fear that each vintage of Grk might just be the last.
Winery: Igor Radovanovic is the enologist for Black Island Winery. He also has his own production under his own name
Region: The grapes come from the vineyards located in Smokvica, on the island of Korčula
Tasting notes: Rich and harmonious white wine that shows crisp minerality combined with aromas of candied citrus fruits, ripe melon, figs, and fresh flowers with a touch of pine and saltiness.
Winemaking: The wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel.
Food pairings: Dalmatian seafood stew (brodet), steamed clams with fresh herbs, lobster, and shrimps. It also pairs well with creamy dishes such as pan-fried seabass and risotto.
