Product description
Product descriptionBeleca is a dry white wine. It is a blend of two autochthonous Croatian varieties: 50% Pošip and 50% Bogdanjuša.
Bogdanjuša is a grape variety native to Hvar Island. It produces light, delicate wines characterized by freshness and floral aroma. It is planted on red soil which intensifies the freshness, which is why it pairs excellently with richer, full bodied wine produced by Pošip.
Originally from Korčula, Pošip has taken root elsewhere in Dalmatia, and has recently become popular on the international wine scene as one of the most praised Croatian grape varieties.
In this synergy of Pošip and Bogdanjuša, Pošip provides the strength, the typical varietal aromas of stone fruit (apricot, peach) and minerality, while Bogdanjuša provides gentler floral aromas and freshness. The result is a southern wine full of character, but at the same time refreshing and vibrant. It is quite light in alcohol (12.5 %) which makes it a more easy drinking style wine, ideal choice for daily consumption.
The name of the wine means "beauty" in vernacular (Ital. bellezza).
Best served: 10-12C
Pair with: white meat, fish and shellfish dishes, pesto, hard cheeses like Pag Island cheese
