New wine of old, almost forgotten indigenous variety Kastelanski Crljenak. Known better in the US as Zinfandel or in Italy as Primitivo.
Very successful return on the Croatian market! Zlatan has the biggest and oldest wineyard of Crljenak in Croatia and in March 2018 they won gold awards for their Crljenak wines (Zlatan Crljenak 2011, Zlatan Crljenak Eko 2015, Zlatan Crljenak Reserva 2012) at the 6th national competition of Crljenak in Croatia.
This medium garnet, full-bodied fine is full of flavors and aromas. On the nose, clean, with aromas of black fruits, jammy fruits and sweet tobacco. On the palate strong wine high in alcohol, yet with the medium, rounded tannins and low acidity. Full of dark fruits such as blackberries, prune sauce/ jam, raisins again mixed with quite some smell of tobacco. See my full wine review here.
