One of the top examples of wines made from Plavac Mali
Apart from 2011 being a great vintage, the winemaker Dubokovic for me was a real discovery on Hvar. Small winery with authentic wine cellar and above all great red and dessert wines!!! Ever since I have visited them for the first time, I have always had their wine in my fridge.
Medvjedica never dissapoints. It’s on the higher price point but certainly worth it. Made of plavac mali, aged in used oak. This full bodied dry red wine, with high tannins and acidity, and quite some alcohol (15%) is certainly a wine that can age well. Its flavours and aromas are mainly dried fruits, liquorice, tobacco and leather.
Wine you can’t easily get your hands on, and in my personal opinion one of the best examples of plavac mali wines.
Pair it with: steak, lamb, game, grilled meat, cheese or dark chocolate
